China enforces historic Robot Boom

Sales up 56 percent

In 2018 China will account for more than one-third of the industrial robots installed worldwide. At this very moment China is engaged on a historically unprecedented effort to catch-up in the race towards automation. The latest figures show that sales of industrial robots jumped to around 57,000 units in 2014 - a rise of 56 percent. The nation's robotics industry is benefiting from an additional boost in the form of the Chinese Government's new competitive offensive, "China Manufacturing 2025".

Industrial robots are conquering the world

By 2018 global sales of industrial robots will on average grow year on year by 15 percent - the numbers of units sold will double to around 400,000 units. Five major markets representing 70 percent of the total sales volume:  China, Japan, USA, South Korea and Germany. So says the 2015 World Robot Statistics, issued by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).

World Robotics Survey:

Service robots are conquering the world

By 2018 global sales of privately used service robots will increase to around 35 million units. At 25 million units, domestic robots (vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, window cleaners etc.) will be right at the top of the future shopping lists of private customers. Estimated sales value - upwards of 12 billion US dollars (2015-2018). Added to that there are around nine million entertainment- and leisure robots with an estimated volume of 7.6 billion US dollars (2015-2018).

World Robotics Survey: How Industrial and Service Robots are conquering the World

In the age of the "Fourth Industrial Revolution" industrial and service robots are repeatedly breaking new sales records. According to the latest forecasts, global sales of robots will enjoy double-digit growth to 2018 - to date around 230,000 units have already been sold.

Industrial Robot break worldwide sales record - plus 27 percent

"Global demand of industrial robots f in 2014 reached more than 200,000 units for the first time," said Arturo Baroncelli, President of the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) in Chicago.  "Strongest drivers of the growth were the automotive industry followed by the electronics industry. Based on the preliminary results of the global statistics on industrial robots, the IFR estimates that about 225,000 units were sold in 2014, 27% more than in 2013."

China to overtake EU and North America by 2017

By 2017, more industrial robots will be operating in China's production plants than in the European Union or North America. Operating unit numbers there will double from today's 200,000 to more than 400,000. To compare: In North America, numbers will rise to about 300,000 - with 340,000 predicted for Europe's five largest economies. So says the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) in its 2014 World Robot Statistics.

IFR: Accelerating demand for industrial robots will continue

2014: Industrial robot sales will increase by at least 15%

Frankfurt, 30 September 2014 - "More than 200,000 industrial robots will be installed in 2014 worldwide, 15% more than in 2013" announced Arturo Baroncelli, IFR President, on the occasion of the publication of the study "World Robotics 2014 - Industrial Robots", on Tuesday in Frankfurt. "The accelerating demand for industrial robots will continue. Between 2015 and 2017, growth will likely continue at about 12% on average per year", stated Baroncelli.
